Just to let you know that I am currently updating the site bit by bit ready for next season - May not be a lot of news updates in the near future but you probably visit the official site and Castigers.net for that info anyway :-)

The site should be up,running and relevant in time for our NL1 campaign next season and you may notice stuff being archived, updated along the way, such as players becoming ex-players etc.

We are RELEGATED for the 2nd time in 3 seasons!!!

In the end, we just were not good enough to beat Wakefield and will have to suffer in NL1 again next season.

We will have to wait to see if all our players leave again like last time but it is anticipated that they will.

I'm more upset about our coach who from his comments last night seems to already be packing his bags.

I would hope that he would be prepared to coach us next season in NL1 and bring us straight back up - or maybe he thinks that he is too good for the lower leagues - We will have to wait and see.

Well, after our victory against Leeds, I've taken a few weeks off from the site and since then, we have lost 3 out of 3!!! AND been nilled at home by Wakey and trashed by The Saints.

BUT,

I'm still optimistic.

We have 4 games left and even though we haven't been playing well lately, we stand a good chance in 3 of the 4 remaining matches.

Depending on how we play, it could still all go down to the final match of the season. I think that if we pick up 2 points in our next 3 games then we will be safe as Wakefield have a hard run in - Famous last words!!!

I had a feeling about this afternoon and for a change I was right :-)

What a great performance and once that shows just how much better we are now than we were at the start of the season. Brilliant - 2 more wins should now be more than enough to keep us up - and we expect that over the next 2 weeks against Huddersfield and Wakefield.

Yeeeeeesssssssssssss!!! :-)

A loss in one of the must win games - A bad injury for Waine Pryce as well and an overall disappointing day after the good last few weeks.

A brilliant victory for The Tigers this afternoon and another 2 points that were not to be expected in the run in to the end of the season. This is now 3 out of 4 unexpected points we have picked up in the last 3 weeks and they could make all the difference - Wigan can go above Wakefield this Friday if they beat them but we are 3 points clear of Wakefield at the moment.

The players played really well both in attack and in defence this afternoon and more performances like this in the remaining games should see us safe from relegation - At last we are starting to look like a decent side. Well Done :-)

Hull 28 Castleford 10

A loss but a decent result for Cas!!! Hull are THE in form side of Superleague and we kept the score down and didn't play at all badly.

What another GREAT victory - these 2 points put us even further away from Wigan and also pull us closer to Huddersfield in the table - With Wakey also winning today, things are looking grim for Wigan now - They desperately need a victory tonight against the French. Looks like we may have a decent goal kicker at last as well. A good debut from Danny Brough as well - Could well be worth the £40,000 we've paid for him if he keeps it up.

Things are looking good this evening.

Well well well, in all honesty this was a game I couldn't really see us getting anything from BUT, we played very well indeed and if the truth be known, we should really have taken 2 points instead of the one. Keep it up lads.

There was some spirit again today, certainly in the 2nd half but it was too little too late as Warrington did outclass us. Still, the way the season is going, I'm not too disappointed - There are 7 games left which we have a chance of winning and we need to target these games as must wins - If we win 5 or 6 of these then we will stay up and that is all anyone can ask for in our first season back.

Next week it's the Bulls and they are on a downer at the moment - Anyone think we could spring a surprise ???

A poor defeat in a game that we managed to compete in for most of the match. Disappointing after last week.

When you get chance, why not have a look at the following site :

A GREAT victory for us in this game and one that puts us 6 points clear of Wigan now.

The victory was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests and we outplayed Wigan for long spells of the game - The defence looked a lot better as Wigan threw everything they had against us.

In attack, Manu was excellent as was Peter Lupton but the team effort overall was the most encouraging thing about this display,

Castleford 28 Salford 26

26:8 down, the lads did excellent to come from behind again with a great late surge. They looked dead and buried but once again showed they are willing to fight to survive in this league. A valuable 2 points and a potential relegation 4 pointer next match against Wigan.

What a fantastic feeling after a few weeks of deep disappointment - Well Done :-)

Another defeat but this one was fully expected - A lot better than our defeat against Warrington.

Salford next week will be tough having watched them last night against The Saints but hopefully we can see more improvement.

Well what can I say - A massive defeat!!! We were, and I don't like using bad language on a family website, CRAP!!!

Attack was distinctly average today and the tackling was once again very poor indeed.

The chants of "What a load of rubbish" at the end were fully justified in my opinion and with a lot of even tougher games coming up, we need to be a heck of a lot better than this pathetic performance.

If we want to have any chance at all of staying up then we need to start winning a few games, if only by a few points - On this showing, I can't be anything other than pessimistic!!!

Another 2 losses - These are both games we needed to win to give us a good chance of survival - We need to pick things up and turn them around quickly now otherwise we will find ourselves in a desperate struggle before long - I feel that we can still stay up, we just need to do a bit better!!! :-)

Widnes 14 Castleford 4

Hmmmmmmm!!! Not too sure about this result - One on hand, we shouldn't have lost BUT, on the other, it was a competition that I personally was not interested in this season - We were never going to win the whole thing and our only aim of the season is to avoid relegation. The club obviously didn't take it seriously as TM was back in Oz and a few players were also rested.

My only reservation is that the players may struggle to pick up the pace against Catalans on Saturday - Lets hope they can get back on track

Castleford 22 Huddersfield 36

In defence of the Tigers - Whoops, there was no defence for the first 20 minutes!!! 22:0 down after 12 minutes really put us up against it and we looked pitiful.

BUT, the players stuck at it and managed to claw it back slowly drawing only 2 points behind with a couple of minutes gone in the 2nd half.

After pulling level, we had chances to go ahead with a drop goal - blocked by the impressive Crabtree - and a knock on over the tryline.

Huddersfield pulled away in the last 5 minutes but it was a game that could have gone either way - Apart from the awful start, we looked a decent side, especially in the forwards.

It's a pity that we can't start better.

Castleford 38 Wigan 18

What a great victory over the Warriors - We wanted it more than they did and although they didn't help themselves through silly errors, we capitalised and to be honest totally dominated much of the match. 50% win record and the next 4 games all winnable - Lets hope we can get at LEAST 4 points out of the 8 on offer - We can now all see that this team is more than capable of staying up this season.

London 20 Castleford 34

The match report can be found in the game time section by clicking on game reports

Well done - 14:0 down after 13 minutes and the heads didn't drop - Superb team effort and it's now 2 wins out of 2 in the games that we had a chance of winning.

Keep it up lads.

Leeds 66 Castleford 14

Whoops - What went wrong - I expected defeat (being the pessimist that I am) but we got absolutely walloped. Didn't go to the game so don't know if Leeds were good or we were awful - A bit of both I would think.

We need to pick ourselves up for next week against The Quins - This is one of those games that we need to be winning to keep picking points up throughout the season

First game of the season I have attended and for the first half all went and looked exceeding good (my middle name is Mr Kipling!). Disappointing to only be 10 points ahead at half time though as The Dragons had never really been in the game and look devoid of ideas.

2nd half was a different story - After our early try to put us back ahead by 16, Catalan came back strongly to take the lead late on in the 2nd half for the first (and only) time. Some of our defence was atrocious and I'm going to put it down to a lack of match fitness at this stage of the season. Someone asked me today if we were Superleague fit yet ? He's a Wakefield supporter and said that when they finished in 6th a couple of seasons ago, a lot of it was down to fitness and being able to play at full speed for the whole 80 minutes. Well, hopefully we will improve in this area - If it wasn't fitness, then players just need to concentrate more instead letting in easy tries - I know it's easy for me to say but from the stand, it looked bad.

BUT, and it's a BIG BIG but, the team responded superbly and went ahead with just 5 minutes remaining - The go-ahead score came after we gained a penalty in front of the sticks which was easily kickable and would have levelled the scores. I would hope that it was the coach that made the decision to run it, and if it was, it was a very brave decision! Not only that, but it shows that he has faith in the player's ability to get the job done. Thankfully, it worked and as time ran out, Cas ran in another try in the corner to seal the victory.

Our first Superleague victory and a lot better to get it in the 3rd game of the season rather than waiting until the 12th or 13th like we did 2 seasons ago.

At times, we looked like a good side capable of Superleague survival. We were good at moving the ball up field - good strong runs from the forwards on a regular basis.

Hopefully we can now build on this and get a couple more victories under our belt quickly.

Having looked at the fixture list, we should be in with a shout in 4 or 5 of our next 8 games - If we can manage this, then that would be superb and would go a long way to our survival this season.

Well done to everyone yesterday - Terrific

Oh dear! A comprehensive defeat against a very good Saints side - Still way too early in the season to say whether we will be able to compete at all this season as we have played 2 good sides so far. Next week should be a better test against The Dragons.

Castleford 18 Hull 42

I thought that this game showed our potential DESPITE a pretty heavy loss - We made way too many errors and gave away too many silly penalties but even so, I think that we WILL be able to hold our own in the league this season. Hull looked a fairly good side.

Castleford 22 Huddersfield 24

Our first loss of the season but hopefully it shows that we are going to able to compete with the likes of Huddersfield this season - Avoiding relegation is really our only aim and to do so means that we have to beat teams like this - We proved today that we should be able to.
